Verified quests earn private Experience Points (XP). XP unlocks personal ranks and rewards. It records your own journey and is never used to rank you against anyone else.

Earn Experience Points from verified quests, unlock personal ranks and collect rewards. There are no leaderboards, races or rewards for finishing faster than another guest.

The rules

What XP is, and is not

XP has no monetary value and cannot be transferred
XP is linked to one verified Explorer Profile
Each quest earns XP once per person
XP can never be bought directly
XP never rewards speed or competition
XP never depends on a guaranteed wildlife sighting
XP stays private unless you choose to share an achievement
XP does not expire while the programme is active

When wildlife does not appear

Wildlife quests are completed through responsible participation. If the intended animal is not sighted, your guide may still verify completion when you:

Followed the approved route
Took part for the required duration
Followed the conservation rules
Recorded another meaningful observation
Completed the quest reflection

XP is never awarded for getting closer to wildlife.

The complimentary island quest earns genuine XP. Kanduge Malaa earns more because it is a guided marine activity with equipment and operational resources, not because it costs more.

Master Explorer requires the XP, completion of the published Master Questbook and verification of every required quest. Repeating a quest never replaces a missing one.

How the award is chosen

The Crown is a judged award, not a draw or a popularity contest. Every verified Master Explorer receives the Master Completion Package and may enter. Entrants submit one favourite quest photograph, a short journey reflection, one cultural lesson, one conservation lesson and their verified Master Questbook.
